Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball downs Bethlehem Academy 48-38

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team was looking to snap a two-game losing streak at home Monday evening in a Gopher Conference matchup with Faribault Bethlehem Academy, and senior guard Bobbie Bruns put up 22 points, five assists and four steals, plus she swished four free throws in the last four minutes of the contest to help the Blossoms to a 48-38 win.

The Blossoms jumped out to a 15-2 lead early, but Bethlehem Academy’s Kate Trump, who wound up with 15 points for the game started a 9-0 run to cut the Blossom’s lead to four.  Blooming Prairie led 28-20 at the half, and although they were only 11-28 from the charity stripe, Shawntee Snyder and Macy Lembke hit 3 out of 4 besides Bruns’ four free throws in the last four minutes of the game to extend and preserve BP’s lead.  The lead for the Blossoms from then on ranged anywhere from two to 10 points, but Head Coach John Bruns stated that the Blossoms were able to get the stops and rebounds they needed to preserve the win.

Beside Bruns’ 22 points, Macy Lembke tallied eight points, Anna Pauly added six points, Shawntee Snyder chipped in five points and a team-high 10 rebounds and Chloe McCarthy scored two points for Blooming Prairie, who moved to 9-4 in the Gopher Conferene and 13-8 overall with the win.

The Awesome Blossoms will kick off a season-ending three game road swing in New Richland Friday night versus NRHEG, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
