Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team felled by Hayfield 76-53 Tuesday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team was looking for win number four in a row in Hayfield Tuesday night versus the two-time defending Class A champion Vikings, the No. 7 team in the state in the latest poll from the Minnesota Basketball News, and veteran guard Isaac Matti went off for 50 points to lead the Vikings to a 76-53 win.

No other Hayfield player was in double figures in scoring Tuesday night, with forward Zander Jacobson the closest with nine points, and for the Blossoms, Brady Kittleson led the way offensively with three 3-pointers on his way to 18 points, Gabe Hein was also in double figures with 14 points, Cooper Cooke wound up with six points, Zack Hein drilled a 3-pointer and scored five points, Carter Bishop also drained a 3-pointer and finished with four points, and Kolby Vigeland, Gabe Staloch and Sam Smith all scored two points apiece in the loss.

Blooming Prairie is now 5-9 overall on the season and 2-7 in the Gopher Conference, and the Blossoms head back out on the road to Wells Friday night for their next game versus United South Central in the Gopher Conference, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
