Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team edges J-W-P 57-54 Friday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team was looking to keep their record unblemished early in the 2023-2024 season Friday night as they played host to the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs in the Gopher Conference, and it was the Blossoms holding off the Bulldogs for a 57-54 win.

The Blossoms led 29-22 at the half, and they were able to withstand a second-half rally from the Bulldogs, led by Memphis James, who drilled six of J-W-P’s 10 3-pointers in the game on his way to 28 points to lead all scorers.  BP had three players in double figures, led by Brady Kittleson, who tallied 20 points, Gabe Hein totaled 17 points, Gabe Staloch nailed four of the squad’s five 3’s in the game for 14 points, Zack Hein scored four points, and Cooper Cooke added two points in the close win.

Blooming Prairie is now 3-0 to start the season, and 2-0 in the Gopher Conference, and the Blossoms return to action at home next Thursday versus Wabasha-Kellogg in a non-conference matchup, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m. that evening.
