Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team downs Winona Cotter 58-53 Saturday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team was looking to snap a two-game losing streak at home Saturday versus Winona Cotter in a non-conference matchup, and it was the Blossoms prevailing by a score of 58-53.

Blooming Prairie had four players in double figures in scoring in Saturday’s victory, led by Gabe Hein, who drained one of the Blossoms’ three 3-point field goals on his way to 22 points, Cooper Cooke tallied 12 points, Brady Kittleson and Zach Hein each scored 10 points, with Hein swishing two 3-pointers, and Kolby Vigeland and Sam Smith each scored two points in the win.  The Blossoms trailed the Ramblers 31-27 at the half, but a key to Blooming Prairie’s victory was at the foul line, where the Blossoms were 17 for 28 while Cotter was 9 for 19, and the Blossoms’ defense held Cotter without a 3-point field goal in the game as well.

With the win, Blooming Prairie is now 6-10 overall on the season, and the Blossoms return to action in the Gopher Conference Tuesday night in Kenyon versus a tough Kenyon/Wanamingo squad, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
