Rochester man sentenced to prison time on felony domestic assault, DANCO charges in Mower County District Court

A Rochester man facing a felony domestic assault charge in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place in Austin on March 16th, 2021 has been sentenced to prison time.

34-year-old Jeremy Michael Avelsgard was sentenced Thursday to 21 months in prison for a felony charge of domestic assault.  Avelsgard was given credit for 52 days already served, and Avelsgard was convicted on the charge on October 21st, 2021 after pleading guilty the same day.

Avelsgard had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge on March 18th, 2021.  Avelsgard was also sentenced Thursday to 21 months in prison for a felony charge of violating a domestic abuse no-contact order within 10 years, first of two or more convictions stemming from an incident that occurred in Austin on September 12th of 2021.  Avelsgard was given credit for 38 days already served, and he was convicted on the charge on October 22nd, 2021 after pleading guilty the same day.

An additional felony charge of violating a domestic abuse no-contact order within 10 years, first of two or more convictions against Avelsgard in the case was dismissed with his guilty plea.
