Barn and milking shed at rural residence near Rose Creek destroyed in early Wednesday morning fire

A barn and a milking shed at a rural residence near Rose Creek were destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning.

The Mower County 9-1-1 dispatch center received a call at approximately 4:48 a.m. Wednesday morning reporting a large structure fire involving a barn and milking shed in the 18100 block of 610 Ave. of rural Rose Creek.

Mower County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene, along with Fire Departments from Rose Creek and Austin, plus Mayo Ambulance.  Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik stated that no persons were injured, and he added that at this time, it appears all animals on the property were also uninjured.

Sheriff Sandvik indicated that the barn and milking shed are both being considered a total loss, and he added that no damage estimate is available at this time.  

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time pending further investigation by fire service personnel.
