Authorities are investigating after responding to a residential structure near Rose Creek early Monday morning.

Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik reported that deputies responded to the report of a fire at a residence in the 53000 block of 180th Street near Rose Creek at approximately 4:47 a.m. Monday morning.  The Austin Fire Department responded to the scene and requested assistance from fire departments in Lyle, Rose Creek and Brownsdale.  Sandvik stated that the fire was located in the attic area of the residence and he added that the occupants of the home were able to exit safely.  

There were no injuries reported, and Sheriff Sandvik stated that there was no damage estimate available at last word.  He went on to note that the cause of the fire was possibly electrical in nature, but an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
