Austin woman who struck ex-boyfriend with car during hit-and-run incident sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court

An Austin woman who struck her ex-boyfriend with a car during a hit-and-run incident in July of 2019 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.  

21-year old Tori Jersusha-Ann Ward was sentenced Tuesday to six years and two months in prison, with credit for 343 days already served.

Ward was initially charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty to 1st degree assault for the incident on July 19, 2019. Austin Police reported that Ward’s 19-year-old boyfriend broke up with her the day before and when she saw him in the intersection of 2nd Avenue SE and 1st Street SE, hit him with her car while traveling at 45 miles per hour.

Authorities stated that the victim suffered a fractured right wrist and several large cuts.  The victim was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin, where his injuries were categorized as substantial bodily harm.
