An Austin woman was transported to the hospital late Tuesday morning after local authorities responded to a call concerning a person struggling in the water at Mill Pond.  

The Austin Police and Fire Departments, plus Mayo Ambulance responded to the call at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday morning, as a 42-year old female resident of Austin had been observed to be struggling in the water at Mill Pond.  Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that a 22-year old male, also from Austin had observed the victim in the water prior to the arrival of the first responders and had brought the victim to shore.

Chief McKichan stated that the female victim was treated at the scene by Mayo Ambulance and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.  Authorities indicated  that the victim was alert and talking at the time of transport.
