Austin woman sentenced to jail time, supervised probation on felony check forgery and drug sale charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin woman facing felony check forgery and drug sale charges in Mower County District Court stemming from two separate incidents that occurred in Austin in February and June of 2022 has been sentenced to jail time and supervised probation.

41-year old Tonya Jean Turvey was convicted and sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic stemming from an incident that occurred on February 2nd, 2022.  A 21-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Turvey complies with the 19 different conditions of her probation, and she was also sentenced Thursday to 120 days in jail and three years of supervised probation for a felony charge of check forgery, offer or possess with intent to defraud stemming from an incident that occurred in Austin on June 29th, 2022.  Turvey was given credit for 120 days already served, and she also received a stay of imposition on the charge where the defendant pleads guilty to a felony-level offense.  If he or she successfully completes their probation, the conviction will be deemed a misdemeanor.  

Turvey pleaded guilty to both charges on December 16th, 2022, and she was convicted on the felony check forgery charge the same day.
