Austin woman injured in two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon

An Austin woman was injured in a two-vehicle, rear-end type accident Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 218 in Austin.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. Monday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that 63-year old Svitlana Anatolivna McAuliffe of Austin turned onto Highway 218 from 21st Avenue and was struck from behind by 51-year old John Carl Shoden of Austin.
Shoden was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. McAuliffe was uninjured.
The Austin Police Department and the Austin Fire Department assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene. The State Patrol reported that the road was snow and ice covered at the time of the accident.
