Austin VFW Post #1216 baseball team felled by Stewartville 11-1 in 6 innings Tuesday

The Austin VFW Post #1216 baseball team was on the road at Stewartville Tuesday evening for a District 1 matchup, and the hosts proved to be rather inhospitable as they scored at least one run in every inning on their way to an 11-1, 6-inning win.

Stewartville rapped out 14 hits in the game and scored two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule.  Austin’s only run came in the top of the fourth inning.

Offensively for Post #1216, Ethan Anderson had one of Austin’s four hits in three trips to the plate and scored Austin’s only run, and Landon Meyer, Isaac Osgood and Jack Klingfus provided the other hits for Post #1216 in the contest.

With the loss, Austin is now 8-6 on the season, and Post #1216’s last regular season home game will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday versus Wasec, and Austin’s final regular season game will be played Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Rochester versus the Rockets.
