Austin Police release the name of the victim who died in an early Saturday morning shooting
The Austin Police Department has released the name of the victim who died in an early Saturday morning shooting at a northeast Austin residence.
Austin Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that 45-year old David Harris of Austin, who lived at the residence where the shooting took place was identified as the victim after an autopsy was performed. Austin Police first received the 911 call regarding the shooting with multiple victims at 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning from a residence in the 100 block of 12th St. NE. Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon stated that lifesaving measures were performed on Harris, but he succumbed to the injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers learned that others had been injured during the shooting, and Austin Police then contacted the Minnesota BCA, who sent agents and crime scene personnel to the scene to assist.
Chief McKichan stated that the incident is being investigated as a homicide, and he added that further details are still not being released as this remains an active and ongoing investigation. McKichan went on to state that investigators are continuing to make progress in the case.
