Austin Police are investigating after a Riverland Community College construction trailer was found abandoned in northeast Austin with over $3,000 of construction tools stolen from it.

Officers from the Austin Police Department responded to the area of the 500 block of 10th St. NE at 5:11 p.m. on Monday, January 18th for a report of an abandoned Riverland Community college construction trailer, which had been discovered behind a local business.  Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon reported that an investigation revealed that the trailer had been stolen sometime between January 15th to the 17th from a local site that Riverland students were working at.  Video recovered at the business revealed that at about 6:00 a.m. on the morning of January 18th, a dark colored, older Chevrolet pickup truck entered the alleyway behind the business,  passengers exited the truck and moments later re- entered the vehicle and left with the trailer abandoned in that location.

Captain Clennon stated that an inventory of the trailer was conducted by Riverland staff and found that approximately $3,500 worth of construction tools had been stolen. If anyone has any information concerning the incident, they are urged to call Austin Police at 437-9400.  Calls, as a reminder, can remain anonymous.
