Austin Police are investigating after a car was stolen from a northeast Austin residence early Tuesday morning.

Chief of Police Dave McKichan reported that officers responded at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to a residence in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue Northeast.  The victim told the officers that a gray 2010 Chevy Malibu with the license plate of 330-XMZ had been stolen. The victim went on to state that he had gone out to start the vehicle, came back inside the residence, and when he went back outside to start a second vehicle, the first one had been stolen.  Chief McKichan stated that someone inside the residence had seen the car drive off and head west towards Eastside Lake, and that was the last time the vehicle was seen.

McKichan stated that there are no suspects, and he added that if anyone has any information concerning the theft, or if anyone notices the vehicle, they are encouraged to call the Austin Police Department at 437-9400.  Reports, as a reminder, can be made anonymously.
