Austin Police investigating report of rat poison stuffed with meat thrown onto lawn of southeast Austin residence with the intent to harm three dogs
Austin Police are investigating after the owner of a residence in southeast Austin recently discovered blocks of rat poison stuffed with meat thrown onto his lawn with the intent to harm his three dogs.
Officers from the Austin Police Department responded last Thursday to a residence in the 700 block of 18th St. SE in regard to rat poison being found in the backyard. Upon arrival, officers contacted the resident who advised them that on Sunday, January 15th he had observed and recovered twelve blocks of rat poison that had been stuffed with meat. The homeowner went on to tell officers that he believes an unknown person or persons threw the poison into his back yard in an attempt to harm his three Great Danes with the poison.
Austin Police Captain Todd Clennon stated that at the time of report, the Great Danes appeared to be in good health and he added that there is no reason to believe they ingested any of the poison. Captain Clennon went on to indicate that this appears to be an isolated incident, and no further reports have been made at last word.
