The Austin Police and Fire Departments wish to remind everyone of the statewide mask drive this Saturday.

If you have the skills to make homemade fabric masks and are able to donate, there is a need and use for these masks locally. On Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Minnesotans can deliver homemade masks to their local fire station.  The Austin Fire Department and the other 774 departments in the State of Minnesota will be participating.  If you are skilled enough and able to help, any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Masks can also always be donated to the Mower County Emergency Operation Center by calling 507-396-8227 and they can help distribute to those in need.

The Austin Police Department is encouraging all residents to wear source control masks while in public retail spaces.  Chief Dave McKichan stated that wearing a mask protects all retail workers, and can also help protect friends, family, neighbors, and essential workers.
