The Austin Packers gymnastics team hosted their home opening meet for the 2020-2021 season against Winona at the YMCA at the Austin Recreation Center Tuesday evening, and it was the Packers edging the Winhawks 129.9-128.575 to open the season at 2-0.

Austin swept the top three spots in the vault with Kate Oelfke scoring an 8.9 for first place, Hannah Fritz was second for the Packers with an 8.825 and Ashley Myhre took third with a score of 8.675.  Claire Raymond was second on the uneven bars for Austin with a score of 8.3, and teammate Ashley Myhre was fourth with a score of 7.75.  On the balance beam, Raymond earned first for the Packers with a score of 8.325, and on the floor exercise, Austin’s Maria Morey tied Natalya Franz of Winona for second with a final score of 8.65.  Ashley Myhre wound up third in the all-around for the Packers with a cumulative score of 32.125.

Austin returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Gage Elementary in Rochester for a Big 9 Conference triangular with Rochester Mayo and Rochester John Marshall.  The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
