Austin Packers gymnastics opens 2020-2021 season with win at Faribault
The Austin Packers gymnastics team opened the 2020-2021 season in Faribault last Friday in a dual meet with the Falcons, and it was the Packers earning a 127.075-122.575 win.
Austin’s Ashley Myhre was second to Faribault’s Lauren McDonough in the all-around with a score of 30.65, and the Packers finished 1-2 in the vault with Kate Oelfke first with a score of 8.625, and teammate Hannah Fritz was second with a score of 8.6. Payton Gilmer was fourth for Austin in the vault with a score of 8.525.
The Packers also went 1-2 in the bars with Claire Raymond taking first with a score of 8.05, and Ashley Myhre was second with a score of 7.775. Hannah Fritz took first for Austin on the beam with a final score of 8.5, and Raymond was third for the Packers with a score of 8.3. On the floor exercise, Katelyn Klouse was second for the Packers with a score of 8.275, and teammate Maria Morey was third with a final score of 8.225.
Austin is 1-0 with the win, and the Packers return to action next Tuesday, February 2nd for their home opener against Winona at the Austin YMCA, with the meet scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
