Austin Packers girls’ track and field third at Winona quadragular Tuesday
The Austin Packers girls’ track and field team was on the road at Paul Giel Field in Winona Tuesday for a Big 9 Conference quadrangular with the host Winhawks, Northfield and Faribault, and the Packers finished in third place 60.5 points. Northfield was the runaway winner with 113 teams points, followed by Winona with 69 points, then came Austin in third and Faribault in fourth with 28.5 points.
High finishers for Austin included Sara Wangen, who took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.75 seconds, Agony Kwot, Cassidy Shute and Muye Ojulu were third, fourth and fifth, respectivley in the 400 meter dash with final times of 1:09.05, 1:10.08 and 1:10.97 and Marissa Shute was first for Austin in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:44.85.
Nadia Vaughn was third for the Packers in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:47.21, Molly Berglund took fourth for Austin in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.15 seconds, Austin’s 4 x 100 relay team was second Tuesday with a time of 57.96, the 4 x 200 meter relay team was also second with a final time of 2:02.67 and the 4 x 400 relay team was third with a time of 4:47.63.
Austin’s Olivia Walsh and Toria Strampe went 1-2 for the Packers in the high jump with both clearing 4′ 8″, Emily Klapperich cleared 7′ in the pole vault, which was good for third place, Duna Oteng was fourth for the Packers in the long jump with an effort of 12′ 10″, Walsh and Strampe also went 1-2 for Austin in the triple jump with jumps of 32′ 11″ and 29’9″, respectivley and Denni Heimer was fourth for the Packers in the discus with a throw of 79′ 11″.
Austin is back in action on Tuesday, April 27th in a Big 9 Conference quadrangular at Rochester John Marshall’s John Drews Field with the host Rockets, Mankato West and Red Wing.
