Austin Packers girls’ tennis team falls to Mankato East/Loyola 7-0

The Austin Packers girls tennis team  was on the road to Mankato Tuesday afternoon for a Big 9 Conference tilt with the East/Loyola Cougars, and it was East coming away with a 7-0 win.

All of the wins for the Cougars were in straight sets, with the exception of first doubles, where Abby and Katie VanPelt for Austin were felled in three sets by Lauren Yenish and Mylie Gleason of East 7-6 (5), 1-6, 10-7, and at third doubles, Kaitlyn Riskedahl and Ella Nack of the Packers took the first set from Hannah Westman and Ashlyn Rigdon of the Cougars 6-2, but Westman and Rigdon came back to take the next two sets 6-3 and 7-5.

Austin returns to action Thursday afternoon at the Wescott Athletic Complex versus Northfield in the Big 9 Conference, with the action scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m.
