Austin Packers girl’s tennis team edges Rochester John Marshall on Senior Night 4-3

The Austin Packers girl’s tennis team played host to the Rockets of Rochester John Marshall for Senior Night at Paulson Courts Thursday evening, and a win at third doubles by the duo of Natalie Haynes and Jadyn Moriarty lifted the Packers to a 4-3 win.

Senior captain Chloe Schmitt at second singles and Gracie Schmitt at third singles, who head coach Jeff Anderson said both played one of their best matches of the season were both winners in straight sets, as was Kaitlin Meiergerd at fourth singles, who defeated Anna Sun of the Rockets in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.  The match came down to Haynes and Moriarty at third doubles against Grace Abdelkarim and Aubrey Ackman of John Marshall, and Coach Anderson stated that Haynes and Moriarty played a very smart and composed match to win in straight sets to clinch the match for Austin 6-3, 7-5.

With the win, the Packers move to 3-4 on the season, and they are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Albert Lea to take on the Tigers.
