Austin Packers girls’ tennis team downed by Rochester Century 5-2 Tuesday

The Austin Packers were on the road to Rochester Tuesday to take on the Century Panthers in the Big 9 Conference, and it was the Panthers coming out on top by a score of 5-2.

Picking up wins for the Packers were Gracie Schmitt at No. 1 singles, as she defeated Reetu Gurung of the Panthers in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, and the No. 2 doubles team of Jenna Hetzel and Seanna Kubas of Austin outlasted Kaitlin Osburn and Naomi Nevenheim of Century in three sets 6-3, 4-6 and 10-7.

The Packers return to action Thursday afternoon in Stewartville for a non-conference matchup with the Tigers, with the action set to start at 4:30 p.m.
