Austin Packers girls’ tennis falls to Owatonna 6-1
The Austin Packers girls’ tennis team was on the road at Owatonna in a Big 9 Conference dual meet Thursday, and the Huskies swept the singles matches and earned two wins at doubles, one of them in three sets to down the Packers 6-1.
Ausitn head coach Jeff Anderson stated that despite the final score, there were some very competitive matches, and he was particularly impressed with the play of Siri Ansorge and Samantha Krueger at second doubles, calling it the best match the two have played this year as they downed Lauren Thamert and Klara Blacker of the Huskies in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. The third doubles team of Natalie Haynes and Jadyn Moriarty for the Packers battled Alivia Schuster and Emma Herzog of Owatonna for three sets, losing the first 6-2, rebounding to win the second set by the same 6-2 score before falling in the third set 6-4.
Austin will return to action at home Thursday, September 10th versus the Mankato West Scarlets, with the action scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
