Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team to send three individuals to State Class A Meet

The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team competed in the Section 1A meet at the Blanchard Aquatic Center in Lakeville, and at Mankato East High School last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and the Packers will be sending three individuals to the State Class A girls swimming and diving meet at the University of Minnesota this Thursday through Saturday.

Heading to the state meet will be Reese Norton and Alayna Kennedy in 1-meter diving, as Norton took first at the Section meet with a total of 386.65 points, and Kennedy was second overall with a final score of 385.05.  Also on her way to the state meet is Gracie Greenman, as the freshman took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.31, and with that finish, she also broke her own school record in the event.

Other medalists for the Packers at the Section 1A meet included the 200 medley relay team of Jaycie Pollak, Addison Tobak, Madison Tauger and Leah Pischke, who took 8th with a time of 2:10.20, and Greenman also took 4th in the 200 individual medley with a final time of 2:16.89.  Freshman Abbie Boysen finished 7th for Austin in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.99 second, the squad’s 200 free relay team of Alivia Hemry, Gracie Greenman, Anna Kossman and Abbie Boysen finished 6th with a final time of 1:44.97, and Austin’s 400 free realy team of Boysen, Kossman, Greenman and Hemry was 5th at the Section meet with a time of 3:52.02.

The State Class A Individual Girls Swimming and Diving Meet will be held this Thursday through Saturday at the University of Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, with Class A diving preliminaries scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, and swimming preliminaries are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
