Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team downs Faribault 88-75 Thursday evening
The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team played host to Faribault in a Big 9 Conference meet at Bud Higgins Pool at Ellis Middle School Thursday evening, and it was the Packers earning an 88-75 victory.
Austin’s 200 medley relay team helped to get things off to a good start for the Packers Thursday evening as the team of Gracie Greenman, Alivia Hemry, Clara McIntyre and Addison Tobak took first with a time of 2:04.85, and the Packers also swept the top three spots in the 200 freestyle as freshman Abbie Boysen was first with a time of 2:10.96, Anita Rao was second with a time of 2:29.25, and seventh-grader Victoria Batalden was third Thursday night with a time of 2:33.48.
Austin also swept the top three spots in the 200 individual medley, as Tobak took first with a time of 2:44.87, teammate Madison Tauger was second with a time of 2:46.08, and senior Jaycie Pollak was third with a final time of 2:47.25. Co-Overby Orthodontics Prep Athletes of the Week Alayna Kennedy and Reese Norton were first and second in 1-meter diving, with Kennedy totaling 253.45 points for first, while Norton was second with 203.80 points. Gracie Greenman was first for the Packers in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.56, and Leah Pischke and Addison Tobak went 2-3 in the 100 freestyle with times of 1:03.43, and 1:03.56, respectively.
The Packers swept the top three spots in the 500 freestyle Thursday evening as Abbie Boysen was first with a time of 6:00.99, Madellane Hicks took second with a final time of 6:45.90, and freshman Gracelyn Johnson-Merten was third with a time of 6:45.97, and Gracie Greenman and Jaycie Pollak were first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke with times of 1:03.33 and 1:18.27.
Austin returns to action Saturday as they will play host to a 6-team invitational at Bud Higgins Pool involving Rochester Century, Rochester Mayo, St. Peter, Tri-City United and Winona, with the action slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
