Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team competes at Big 9 Conference meet

The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team traveled to the Rochester Rec Center for the Big 9 Conference meet held Friday and Saturday, and it was the Packers taking 8th place in the 12-team field with 156.5 points.  Rochester Century was the runaway winner of the team competition with 411.5 points, followed by Northfield in second with 364 points.

High finishers for Austin included the 1-meter diving duo of Alayna Kennedy and Reese Norton, and as they have the entire season, the junior duo dominated the competition, as Kennedy took first with 388.90 points, followed by Kennedy in second with 364.10 points, with the next closest diver, Shannon Penney of Rochester John Marshall a distant third with 320.75 points.

Other high finishers for the Packers included freshman Gracie Greenman, who took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.32, and she also finished fifth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.22.  Freshman Abbie Boysen finished seventh for Austin in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.72, and she also took sixth in the 100 freestyle with a final time of 56.75 seconds.  Austin’s 200 medley relay team of Greenman, Alivia Hemry, Boysen and Anna Kossman took eighth with a time of 2:00.61, and the 200 free relay team of Kossman, Greenman, Boysen and Hemry were sixth with a time of 1:45.96.

Next up for the Packers will be the Section 1AA meet, which will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, Thursday, November 9th and Friday, November 10th at the Blanchard Aquatic Center in Lakeville.
