The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team traveled to the Rochester Rec Center Wednesday to compete in the Section 1A preliminaries, and the Packers will be well represented in Friday’s finals.

Austin’s 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Madelynn Murley, junior Molly Sheehan, junior Molly Garry and freshman Olivia Walsh took fifth to advance to Saturday with a time of 1:55.99, and Walsh also qualified in the both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.48, which was good for sixth place and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.59, which was good for third place.  Garry also qualified in the 100-yard freestyle as she took fourth with a time of 56.88.  Sheehan will also be moving along to Saturday in the 100-yard breaststroke as she took sixth with a time of 1:12.89.

The Packers 200-yard freestyle relay team of Murley, Sheehan, Garry and Walsh also qualfied for action on Saturday with a fifth-place time of 1:44.94.

The Section 1A diving preliminaries, semi-finals and finals will be held today (Thursday) at Rochester John Marshall High School, and the swimming semi-finals and finals will be back at the Rec Center in Rochester Friday afternoon starting at noon.
