Austin Packers girls’ soccer rallies to defeat Faribault in 2020 opener 3-2
The Austin Packers girls’ soccer team opened their 2020 season at home Tuesday evening against Big 9 foe Faribault, and although the Falcons led 2-0 late in the first half, a crucial goal from senior Eliana Bentley in the 38th minute swung momentum toward the Packers, who continued their comeback in the second half to win 3-2.
Hope Dudycha, one of the three captains for Austin scored on a breakaway in the second half to tie the game at two, and a short time later, freshman Marie Tolbert scored her first varsity goal, also via a breakaway in the 58th minute for the eventual game-winner.
The Packers outshot the Falcons 23-7 for the game, and Austin is now off until Thursday, September 10th when they play host to Rochester Mayo. Kickoff at Art Hass Stadium that evening will be at 7 p.m.
