The Austin Packers girls’ hockey team was on the road Saturday for a non-conference game at Worthington looking to get back on the winning track against the Trojans, but it was Worthington breaking things open with five second period goals on their way to a 10-3 win.

The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period when Jordyn McCormack scored unassisted with only :16 left in the period to cut the Worthington lead to 3-1.  Isikiyah Hemann scored just 1:02 into the second period with assists  to McCormack and Alexis Stich to bring Austin within a goal at 3-2, but Worthington reeled off the next three goals to open up a 6-2 lead.  McCormack scored again for the Packers at 10:45 with assists to Stich and Hemann for the final Packer goal of the afternoon.

With both Kyia Radford-Garcia and Shelby Davidson out due to injury, the Packers turned to Kate Holtz to play goalie Saturday afternoon, and Holtz  turned aside 18 shots.  Kaylee Bents made 16 saves for Worthington to earn the win in goal.

Austin is now 2-5 overall on the season, and they are back into action Tuesday night on home ice against Waseca in a non-conferene matchup.  Face-off is at 7:00 p.m.
