Austin Packers girls’ golf team first in home Big 9 quadrangular Monday

The Austin Packers girls’ golf team played host to a Big 9 Conference quadrangular at the Austin Country Club Monday with Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall and Faribault also in action, and it was the Packers edging out the Panthers by three strokes, 382 to 385 for first place.  The John Marshall Rockets were third with a team total of 386, and Faribault was fourth with a score of 437.

As she has all season, last week’s Overby Orthodontics Prep Athlete of the Week Ailani Thiravong, a 7th grader carded the top score for the Packers with an 82, followed by fellow 7th grader Sydney Lewis with a 97.  Freshman Izzy Sellers totaled a 98, fellow freshman Anita Rao finished with a 105, Mallory Brown, the lone senior for Austin fired a 107 and freshman Anna Kossman carded a 108.

The Packers are now off until Saturday when they will travel to Mankato North Links Golf Course for a seven-team invitational including the East Cougars, the West Scarlets, Faribault, Mounds View, New Ulm and St. Peter, with tee-off at 11:30 a.m.
