The Austin Packers girls’ golf team traveled to Cannon Falls Golf Club Tuesday for the opening of the Section 1AAA girls’ golf meet, and in the team competition, Lakeville North was one of six teams to advance to day 2 of the tournament with a score of 335, follwed by Lakeville South five strokes back in second at 340. Northfield finished day 1 a distant third at 385, followed by Rochester John Marshall in fourth at 387, Winona was fifth at 405 and Albert Lea claimed the sixth and final spot to advance to day 2 with a team score of 409. Owatonna and Rochester Century tied for seventh at 416, Farmington was ninth with a 424, Rochester Mayo finished tenth with a team score of 456, Faribault was 11th with a 506, followed by Austin with a 520.
Individually, Anita Rao was the closest Packer to advancing to day 2 with a 123, ten strokes from the cut line. Izzy Sellers carded a 127 for Austin, Anna Kossman finished with a 132, and Allie Alm and Mallory Brown each wound up with a 138.
