Austin Packers girls basketball team victorious over Owatonna 64-53 Saturday

The Austin Packers girls basketball team was on the road to Owatonna in a Big 9 Conference tilt Saturday in search of win number three in a row, and the Packers completed a regular-season sweep of the Huskies with a 64-53 victory.

The Packers, who led 35-29 at the half were 24 of 57 from the field for the game, or 42.1%, and they drained six 3-pointers in 16 attempts for 37.5%.  Austin was also 10 for 16 from the free throw line for 62.5%, and the Packers were led in scoring by veteran forward Olivia Walsh, who put up a stat line of 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and a whopping seven blocked shots.  Three other Packers were also in double figures in scoring Saturday, led by sophomore guard Ajiem Agwa, who tallied 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, senior guard Cassidy Shute just missed a double-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and one steal, sophomore guard Marissa Shute scored 10 points in the win, plus she added five rebounds, two assists and one steal, 8th grade guard Quinn Osgood tallied four points, three rebounds, a team-high four steals and a blocked shot, junior guard Marie Tolbert contributed three rebounds and four assists, senior forward Isabella Wiedeman pulled in one rebound and junior guard Kristen Nielsen added two steals in the winning effort Saturday.

With the win, Austin is now 14-6 overall on the season and 13-3 in the Big 9 Conference, and the Packers return to action at Ove Berven Gym Tuesday evening versus Rochester Century, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
