Austin Packers girls’ basketball team garners No. 2 seed in Section 1AAA tournament
The seedings for the Section 1AAA girls’ basketball tournament were determined by a coach’s vote on Saturday, and the defending section champion Austin Packers earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7-seeded Faribault Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Ove Berven Gym. You’ll also hear the game live on AM 1480 KAUS, world-wide at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio app.
If the Packers are victorious on Wednesday night, they would be back at home on Saturday, February 29th against either No. 3 seed Kasson/Mantorville or No. 6 seed Winona. Those two teams will square off in Kasson on Wednesday night. The No. 4 seeded Albert Lea Tigers will entertain No. 5 seed Byron, with the winner advancing to play the No. 1 seeded Red Wing Wingers, who earned a bye into the semi-finals with the top seed and will host a semi-final game Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
The winners from Saturday night will square off for the Section 1AAA title Friday, March 6th at 8:00 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Arena.
