Austin Packers girls’ basketball moves on in Section 1AAA tournament with 61-23 win over Winona

Emma Dudycha led two Austin Packers in double figures with 19 points Tuesday evening as the Packers girls’ basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the Section 1AAA girls’ basketball tournament downed No. 6 seeded Winona 61-23 at Ove Berven Gym.

Besides Dudycha’s 19 points, sister Hope Dudycha added 14 points, Olivia Walsh and Jilian Venenga each chipped in six points, Elyse Hebrink scored five points and Reana Schmitt tallied four points and eight rebounds for Austin, who moved to 9-4 on the season with the win.

The Packers advance to play No. 2 seed  Kasson/Mantorville in the Section 1AAA semi-finals in Kasson Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and you’ll hear the game live on AM 1480 KAUS, also on our webpage streaming live at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio and Radio.com apps.  The Komets blasted seventh-seeded Faribault 78-29 Tuesday night to move to 16-3 overall on the season.
