Austin Packers girls’ basketball edges Rochester John Marshall Tuesday night 48-46

Elyse Hebrink tallied a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, plus she added four steals as the Austin Packers girls’ basketball team edged the Rochester John Marshall Rockets in Big 9 Conference action at Ove Berven Gym Tuesday night 48-46.

Austin held a 30-20 lead at the half, only to see the Rockets rally to take a 43-41 lead with a three-pointer with just under 6:00 to go. The Packers, though, had the answer as they closed out the game on a 7-3 run, keyed by free throws from Colie Justice and Emma Dudycha and a hoop for Hebrink off of a steal.

Justice wound up with 11 points for Austin Tuesday night, while Kyra Walters added six points, Erica Lundberg tallied five points, Emma Dudycha chipped in with four and Hope Dudycha added three points for the Packers, who moved to 15-3 in the Big 9 Conference with the win and 18-4 overall on the season.  Austin is now off for an entire week as they travel to Owatonna next Tuesday for a Big 9 matchup against the Huskies, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
