The Austin Packers girls’ basketball team was looking to avenge a defeat to Rochester Mayo from earlier in the season Tuesday night at Mayo High School, and though the Packers led 27-22 at the half, the Spartans came alive in the second half to outscore Austin 41-25 on their way to a 68-52 win.

Hope and Emma Dudycha led the Packers in scoring with 18 and 16 points, respectivley, while Erica Lundberg and Kyra Walters each added six points, Elyse Hebink chipped in four points and Colie Justice two.  The Spartans were led by Anna Miller, who tallied a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, Elli Collins added 16 points and six rebounds and Nancy Soro scored six points and pulled in 12 rebounds for Mayo, who won their eighth straight to move to 11-3 in the Big 9 Conference and 13-4 overall on the season.  Austin saw a four-game winning streak snapped, and they are now a half-game behind Red Wing for first in the conference at 13-3, and they are 16-4 overall.

Austin is back in action Friday night at home versus Mankato West, with the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.  The Austin High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at halftime, and you’ll also be able to catch the game right here on AM 1480 KAUS, online world-wide at myaustinminnesota.com and on the I Heart Radio app.
