Freshman Claire Raymond of the Austin Packers gymnastics team earned a trip to the Minnesota State High School Class A gymnastics meet with a sixth-place finish on the uneven bars Saturday in the Section 1A meet in Rochester.  Raymond and the rest of her teammates had a strong showing in the team competition as well, as the Packers finished third with a team  score of 135.100.  Pine Island/Zumbrota/Mazeppa won the meet with a score of 144.950 and Winona was second with a final score of 140.450.

Raymond earned her trip to state on the uneven bars with a score of 8.2, and she finished seventh in the all-around competition with a score of 34.475.  Other high finishers for Austin on Saturday included Maria Morey, who was eighth on the bars with a score of 8.1 and tied for sixth on the beam with teammate Hannah Fritz with scores of 8.9.  Raymond was ninth on the floor exercise for the Packers with a score of 9.2, and Morey was 10th also with a score of 9.2.

The state gymnastics meet will be held this Friday, February 21st and Saturday, February 22nd at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in downtown St. Paul.
