Austin Packers dance team claims Big 9 title in high-kick Saturday

The Austin Packers dance team was in action Saturday at the Big 9 Conference meet in Faribault, and for the first time since 2012, the Packers’ high-kick team took first place over the host Falcons.

Austin finished in first with a ranking point total of four, followed by Faribault in second with eight points, Rochester Century was third with 12 points, followed by Owatonna in fourth with 16 points, Albert Lea was fifth with 21 points, Northfield was sixth with 22 points, Rochester Mayo took seventh in high-kick with 27 points and Winona was eighth with 32 points.

In jazz, Austin took third Saturday with a ranking point total of 11.5, with Rochester Century first with four points and Faribault second with five points.  Behind Austin, Owatonna was fourth with 16 points, Northfield was fifth with 20.5 points, Rochester Mayo finished sixth with 23.5 points, Albert Lea was seventh with 28 points and Winona was ninth with 32 points.

Four Packers claimed All Big 9 Conference honors Saturday, including Kennedy Bell, Breanna Feifarek, Allie Hughson, and Nora Tweeten, while Honorable Mention recognition went to Meredith Murphy, Maddie Staska, Madison Schlichter and Mackenzie Carter.

Next up for the Packers will be the APDT show held at Austin High School on February 5th at 11am and 2pm, followed by the Section 1A dance meet in Winona on February 12th.
