The Austin Packers boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams were both in action in Mankato Thursday for a triangular hosted by the East Cougars, and in the boys competition, the host Cougars took first with 26 teams points, followed by Northfield in second with 50 and Austin in third with 56.

Jackson Marsh ran the best time for Austin as he took third with a final time of 17:35.1.  Joseph Garry was eighth with a time of 18:21.7, Thomas Herrick was 10th for the Packers with a time of 18:31.1, Thomas Asmus was 18th with a final time of 19:51.2, Kyle Mayer was 19th for Austin with a time of 20.11.9 and Alex Petrik was 22nd with a time of 20:47.

In the girls competiton, the host Cougars edged out Northfield for first place 28-30, while Austin was third with 78 points.

Marissa Shute was the top finisher for Austin with a time of 21.29.2, good for eighth place.  Cassidy Shute  was 18th for the Packers with a time of 23:30.3, Grace Vortherms was 19th at 23:32.2, Nadia Vaughn was 20th with a time of 24:04.6, Lauren Schmitt was 21st for Austin with a time of 26:01 and Micha Weber was 22nd with a time of 26:05.5.

Both squads return to action in a Big 9 dual meet with Rochester John Marshall at the Mower County Fairgrounds next Tuesday, September 29th, with the action scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
