Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team takes 5th at Section 1A True Team Meet

The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team braved the weather Saturday to travel to Simley High School to compete in the Section 1A True Team Meet, and after NISCA power points were calculated, it was the Packers taking fifth place with 2,133 points.  Northfield and Mankato East took the top two spots in the 7-team field to move on to the state meet with 5,635 and 3,771 points, resepctively.

High finishers for the Packers at Simley Saturday included the squad’s 200 Medley Relay team of Brent Dahl, Hunter Peters, Lucas Meyers and Zach Evenson, who finished fourth with a time of 1:46.14, Peters took sixth in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:00.96, and Dahl swam to a first-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:01.93.

Senior Zach Evenson placed third for Austin in the 50 Freestyle Saturday with a time of 23.04 seconds, Riley Ferguson took third in 1-meter diving with a total of 355.70 points, and Lucas Meyers swam to a fourth-place finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 59.41 seconds.  Evenson was fifth for the Packers in the 100 Freestyle Saturday with a time of 51.61 seconds, Brent Dahl earned another first-place finish for Austin in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:03.68, Lucas Meyers was sixth in the 100 Backstroke with a final time of 1:04.85, and Hunter Peters finished fourth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.86.  Austin’s 400 Freestyle Relay team of Zach Evenson, Carter Holt, Noah Holt and Brent Dahl picked up a sixth-place finish Saturday with a time of 3:40.57,
