Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team takes 10th at True Team state meet Saturday at U of M

The Austin boys swimming and diving team competed in the Minnesota State Class A True Team meet Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, and the Packers earned two-first place finishes to help themselves to a 10th place finish.

Logan Kelly was first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.57 seconds, and in the process he re-set his own school record and broke his own True Team meet record from last year by half a second.

The Packers 200-yard medley relay team of Rafe Dolan Peterson, Kelly, Trey Myers and Aaron Knoll took first as they re-set their own school record by over two seconds with a time of 1:35.18.  Other high finishers for Austin on Saturday at the U of M included Myers taking second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.95, Kelly was third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.19 and Riley Norton was fourth in the diving competition with a final score of 343.35.

Dolan Peterson was third in the 100 butterfly for Austin with a final time of 51.75, and he was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.77.  The Packers 400 freestyle relay team of Dolan Peterson, Knoll, Myers and Kelly was second with a time of 3:14.98.

Breck/Blake took first in the team competition with a total of 2,173, while Saint Thomas Academy was second with 2,069 points.  Sartell-St. Stephen was third with 1,830, followed by Winona in fourth with 1,592 points, Simley was fifth with 1,357.5, Alexandria was sixth with 1,284.5, Grand Rapids was seventh with a total of 1,260, while Hutchinson took eighth with 1,241.5.  Willmar was ninth with 1,215, and the Packers were tenth with 1,203.5 points.
