Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team fourth at their own 9-team invitational Saturday
The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team hosted a 9-team invitational at Bud Higgins Pool Saturday, and it was the host Packers taking fourth place overall with 320 team points.  Rochester Mayo was first with 438 team points, just edging out second-place Cedar Rapids, Iowa in second with 434 points.  Northfield was third with 417 points, followed by Austin and then Owatonna in fifth with 261 team points, Mankato East was sixth with 260 points, and it Rochester John Marshall in seventh, Mason City, Iowa in eighth and Rochester Century in ninth to round out the team standings.
High finishers for Austin Saturday included freshman Brent Dahl, who took third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.83, senior Kenny Cabeen was fourth for the Packers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.58 seconds, and junior Riley Ferguson earned a second place finish in 1-meter diving with a final score of 300.90.  Senior Joey Hillkin took fifth for Austin in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.10, Cabeen was fifth in the 100 freestyle Saturday with a time of 51.88 seconds, and Dahl earned a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:14.14.
Austin’s 200 freestyle relay team of Winston Walkup, Lucas Meyers, Kenny Cabeen and Brent Dahl earned a second-place finish with a final time of 1:34.09, and Walkup took third for the Packers in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.59.
Austin returns to action at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening in a Big 9 Conference dual with Northfield, with the action scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
