Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team felled at Mankato East 95.5-76.5 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team was back into action in Mankato Tuesday evening versus the East Cougars in a Big 9 Conference dual meet, and although the Packers fell 95.5 to 76.5, there was a definite silver lining in the loss.

Brent Dahl secured the #2 slot in the All-Time Austin High School Swim and Dive Top-10 list Tuesday evening with his 2:00.92 finish in the 200 Individual Medley, with only Logan Kelly ahead of him with his record time of 1:54.57 from 2020.

Other high finishers for the Packers Tuesday evening included the team’s 200 Medley Relay Team of Dahl, Hunter Peters, Zach Evenson and Francesco Lorenzoni, who finished second with a final time of 1:52.28, Peters took third for the Packers in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:03.81, and Lucas Meyers finished second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.47 seconds.

Riley Ferguson and Gage Rasmussen were second and third, respectivley, in 1-meter diving Tuesday evening with scores of 188.65 and 163.95, Lucas Meyers swam to a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:01.22, and Brent Dahl was not only first in the 200 Individual Medley, he also took first in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 49.87 seconds.  Zach Evenson finished second for Austin in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:35.81, the 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Dahl, Carter Holt, Noah Holt and Lucas Meyers took first with a final time of 1:38.76, and Evenson was second for the Packers in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:05.15.  Freshman Hunter Peters swam to a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.79, and Austin’s 400 Freestyle Relay Team of Zach Evenson, Zach Voogd, Simon Pischke and Hunter Peters took first with a final time of 4:06.12.

The Packers are now off through the holidays, and they will return to action at Bud Higgins Pool versus Red Wing in a Big 9 Conference dual meet on January 4th at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
