Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team falls to Rochester Century 92-71 Thursday evening

It was the home opener for the 2023-2024 season for the Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team Thursday night as they played host to the Panthers of Rochester Century in a Big 9 Conference dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool, and it was the visiting Panthers registering a 92-71 win.

High finishers for Austin Thursday night included the squad’s 200 medley relay team of Brent Dahl, Lucas Meyers, Hunter Peters and Carter Holt, who took third with a final time of 1:50.59, only .19 of a second out of second place for the event, Dahl took first for the Packers in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.02, and Zach Evenson was third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.54 seconds.

Riley Ferguson and Gage Rasmussen were first and third, respectively, in 1-meter diving for the Packers Thursday evening, as Ferguson took first with 216.70 total points, and Rasmussen was third with 149.20 points.  Lucas Meyers and Zach Evenson were 2-3 in the 100 butterfly, as Meyers swam a final time of 1:02.18, and Evenson finished at 1:06.54, plus Carter Holt was third for the Packers in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.73 seconds.

Noah Holt took third for Austin in 500 freestyle Thursday evening with a time of 6:14.19, Austin’s 200 freestyle relay team of Zach Evenson, Riley Ferguson, Noah Holt and Brent Dahl were second with a final time of 1;41.85, Dahl and Zach Voogd were first and second, respectivley in the 100 backstroke with time of 56.57 and 1:19.24, and Hunter Peters and Lucas Meyers were 1-2 for the Packers in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:07.09 and 1:15.16, respectively.  Austin’s 400 freestyle relay team of Zach Evenson, Noah Holt, Hunter Peters and Lucas Meyers took first as well for the Packers Thursday evening with a time of 3:47.04.

The Packers will be back in the pool on Tuesday, December 19th in Mankato versus the East Cougars, with the action getting underway at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
