Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team falls to Northfield 95-85 Thursday evening
The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team hosted Northfield in a Big 9 Conference dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening, and it was the Raiders coming away with a 95-85 win.
High finishers for Austin inlcuded the club’s 200 medley relay team of Brent Dahl, Winston Walkup, Joey Hillkin and Kenny Cabeen, who took second with a time of 1:44.36, Walkup took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.59, and Dahl was second for the Packers in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.73.
Zach Evenson and Joey Hillkin finished 2-3 in the 50 freestyle for Austin Thursday night with times of 23.78 and 24.33 seconds, respectively, Riley Ferguson was second in 1-meter diving with a final score of 174.75 and Brent Dahl finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.22. Kenny Cabeen earned a second place finish for the Packers in the 100 freestyle Thursday evening with a time of 52.20, and Lucas Meyers was second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.15, while the teams’ 200 freestyle relay team of Zach Evenson, Joey Hillkin, Carter Holt and Winston Walkup were first with a time of 1:35.01, just edging out the Northfield team of Nick Scheglowski, Gabe Heinritz, Oliver Momberg and Jens Karsten, who finished .33 seconds behind the Packers for second.
Zach Evenson and Kenny Cabeen were second and third, respectively, in the 100 backstroke with times of 1:03.66 and 1:06.39, and Austin swept the top three spots in the 100 breaststroke, as Winston Walkup was first with a time of 1:05.31, which was also good for 9th all time in the Austin High School top ten, Joey Hillkin was second with a time of 1:10.70 and Carter Holt took third for the Packers with a time of 1:12.56. Austin also swept the top two spots in the 400 freestyle relay as the team of Kenny Cabeen, Brent Dahl, Hunter Peters and Lucas Meyers was first with a time of 3:36.75, and the team of Jackson Hillkin, Thomas Asmus, Zach Voogd and Noah Holt was second with a final time of 4:17.04.
Austin returns to action this (Friday) evening in Northfield for the Section True Team meet, with the action scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
