Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team downs Faribault 90-78

The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team played host to the Faribault Falcons in a Big 9 Conference dual meet at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday evening, and it was the Packers coming away with a 90-78 victory.

High finishers in the win for the Packers included the squad’s 200 Medley Relay team of Zach Evenson, Lucas Meyers, Brent Dahl and Carter Holt, who took first Thursday night with a time of 1:49.14, Noah Holt was first for Austin in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:07.55, and Dahl and Evenson were 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley with times of 2:09.99 and 2:29.57, respectively.

The Packers also swept the top two spots in the 50 Freestyle Thursday night as Hunter Peters took first with a time of 24.42 seconds, just edging out teammate Carter Holt, who took second with a time of 24.67.  Riley Ferguson and Gage Rasmussen were second and third, respectively, in 1-meter diving with final scores of 201.40 and 166.10, and Brent Dahl and Kale Purkapile were first and third in the 100 Butterfly with times of 59.46 and 1:26.45.

Zach Evenson and Lucas Meyers swam to a 1-2 finish for Austin in the 100 Freestyle with times of 52.28 and 53.82 seconds, Simon Pischke and Olin Berg were second and third, respectively in the 500 Freestyle with final times of 6:25.98 and 7:14.10, the club’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Brent Dahl, Carter Holt, Hunter Peters and Noah Holt took first Thursday night with a time of 1:39.64, and the Packers also swept the top three spots in the 100 Backstroke, with Lucas Meyers first with a time of 1:05.88, Zach Voogd was second at 1:19.59, and Drake Kirkpatrick was third with a time of 1:22.52.

Austin is back into action next Thursday in Rochester versus the John Marshall Rockets, with the action scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
