Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team caps off regular season with 95-91 win over Rochester John Marshall

The Austin Packers boys swimming and diving team was on the road in Rochester  Thursday night against the John Marshall Rockets in a Big 9 dual meet, and the Packers ended their dual meet schedule for the 2019-2020 season with a 95-91 win.

The Packers 200 medley relay team of Rafe Dolan Peterson, Logan Kelly, Trey Myers and Aaron Knoll was first with a time of 1:40.32, while the team of Kyle Mayer, Thomas Walker, Winston Walkup and Kenny Cabeen was third with a time of 1:59.20. Myers was second in the 200 freestyle for Austin with a time of 1:54:08, and teammate Tate Miller was third at 2:05.49.  Kelly was second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:59.40, and Dolan Peterson took second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.38.  Teammate Aaron Knoll was third for the Packers with a time of 23.18.

In the diving competition, Riley Norton was first for Austin with a total score of 204.25, and Riley Ferguson was third with a total of 150.75.  Dolan Peterson took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.61, and Walkup was third with a final time of 1:04.13.  Knoll was third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.34, and Miller was second for Austin in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:52.35, while teammate Matthew Grush was third at 6:01.12.

The Packers 200 freestyle relay team of Kelly, Knoll, Myers and Dolan Peterson was secdon with a time of 1:28.41, and the team of Adam Pike, Riley Haugen, Joseph Cook and Tate Miller was third with a time of 1:46.24.  Walkup was first for Austin in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.16, and Pike was third with a time of 1:09.28.  Kelly was first for the Packers in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.07, and Myers was second at 1:06.54.  Austin’s 400 freestyle relay team of Miller, Pike, Cabeen and Walkup was second with a time of 3:46.42.

The Packers went 6-2 overall in dual meets and they will be back in action at the Big Nine meet in Rochester at the Rec Center next Thursday, February 6th at 4:00 p.m.
