Austin Packers boys’ soccer team rallies in second half to down Northfield 4-1

The Austin Packers boys’ soccer team played host to Northfield in a Big 9 Conference clash at Art Hass Stadium Tuesday evening, and the Packers tallied four second half goals, two of them from Aidan Martinez as Austin rallied to down the Raiders 4-1.

Northfield scored the only goal of the first half to lead 1-0 at the break, but Martinez tallied in the 46th minute to tie the match at one, and he then gave the Packers the lead for good, it would turn out when he scored in the 58th minute to give Austin a 2-1 lead.  The Packers added two late insurance goals, one from Lennyn Ortiz-Reyes in the 75th minute to make the score 3-1, and another from Tu Reh in the 78th minute that made the final 4-1.

Kaleb Tedessee and Joel Thwang were credited with assists in the game, and goalkeepers Logan Peterson and Dane Mitchell combined to make eight saves to help lift Austin to the win, which puts them over .500 in the conference at 3-2-1, and the Packers are 3-3-3 overall.

Austin is back in action Friday night at Winona versus the Winhawks, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
