Andres Garcia tallied four goals, Henry Tolbert also scored a hat trick with three goals and senior midfielder Jose Valladares added a goal of his own, plus three assists as the Austin Packers boys’ soccer team saw 10 players score at least one goal in a 15-1 victory over Red Wing at Art Hass Stadium Thursday evening.

Austin put on an offensive clinic in the game as they bolted out of the gate with three goals in the first five minutes to take a lead they would not relinquish.  Sophomore midfielder Poe Reh headed in a corner kick from Valladares, his first of three such assists in the game in the third minute to give Austin a 1-0 lead.  Eighth-grade forward Aidan Garcia made it 2-0 with a goal a short time later in the fourth minute and only seconds later, Garcia scored the first of his four goals in the fifth minute to make the score 3-0 Packers.  Tolbert scored two of his three goals back-to-back in the 14th and 17th minutes to increase Austin’s lead to 5-0, senior forward Jackson Goetz then tallied off a Valladares corner in the 22nd minute to run the score to 6-0, junior midfielder Tu Reh scored just over a minute later to make it 7-nil Packers, and Garcia, Valladares and senior midfielder Gree Ha all scored to round out a 10-goal deluge in the first half to make the score 10-0 at the end of the half.

Tolbert opened the scoring for Austin in the 2nd half with a spectacular, no-look, right back heel shot from just beyond the six :50 in to make the score 11-0, and two more goals for Garcia sandwiched around a penalty kick goal from eighth-grade midfielder Joel Thwang and a goal from senior forward Peter Li accounted for the rest of the scoring for the Packers.  Red Wing’s Nicholas Snouffer accounted for the final tally of the game with a toal in the 72nd minute.

Austin is out to a 2-0 start, and they will be back in action next Thursday September 10th in Rochester against the Mayo Spartans, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
